FAQ

Where will the sessions be held?

Speech and language therapy for children is best in the natural environment (research has proven this).

This allows for family members to be present to learn the strategies used during the session. It also permits the use of toys and games from the child’s home, so that learning can continue after the session is over.

Home-based speech therapy means I do the traveling, so you can take advantage of the time you gain by not having to run the kids to, yet another, appointment.

Sessions can be held at your house, the child’s daycare, or aftercare placement (with permission).

What is the cost per session?

I have spent over a decade working with children. My expertise and successful techniques have helped many children achieve their goals.

Will my insurance cover the visit?

Yes! ALM Speech Therapy accepts insurance.

With what ages do you work?

As a pediatric SLP, most of my caseload is young children. But I enjoy working with teens and adults, as well.

Can my child be seen through Early Intervention or CPSE by ALM Speech Therapy PLLC?

I have tremendous experience with the birth-to-five population (and love them dearly).

I am happy to announce that I am an approved Early Intervention provider and CPSE provider for Westchester County.

What does therapy look like?

This answer may depend on the age and needs of the child.

I may be playing on the floor with a two-year old or sitting at a table with a ten-year old. We may be completing structured tasks or free play.

I try to be as fun and engaging as possible while targeting the individual goals.

Do you employ other therapists?

Currently, ALM Speech Therapy is an approved agency of one, just me. You will have a session with me each-and-every time.

Why should I pay for private therapy?

I get it – kids are expensive. As a Mom, I am always looking for places I can save, but I also know that in some cases you get what you pay for.

The State and District-run programs, such as EI and CPSE, are wonderful; however, the evaluation and approval process can be lengthy and rigorous.

Insurance plans often require a medical diagnosis or may force you to see certain therapists.

As a private-pay client, we can start therapy almost immediately – and we set the goals for your child. You are in control over the amount of services your child receives.

What’s your favorite children’s book?

Moo, Baa, La La La by Sandra Boynton, because it teaches all the beginning speech sounds and animal noises. I have read it so many times that I can recite it.
